Living Light. This quarterly journal is an interdisciplinary review of Christian education under the auspices of the USCC, Department of Education in collaboration with the Department of Religion and Religious Education at the Catholic University of America. Its foundational orientation is directed towards promoting dialogue with educators of other religious traditions as well as those in secular pursuits. Offering a forum for catechists, religious educators and scholars in the field, the journal identifies current issues and developments, reports research and provides resources for practice. Momentum. Published by the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), founded in 1904, is the professional association for Catholic Religious Educators. The national organization sponsors an annual conference and publishes a wide range of books and articles related to the practice of religious education in schools and parishes. REA. The Religious Education Association, formed in 1903, is an interfaith, interdisciplinary organization for professional religious educators. Initially founded as a religious counterpart to progressive education, the REA claims a threefold purpose: To inspire the educational forces of our country with the religious ideal; to inspire the religious forces of our country with the educational ideal; and to keep before the public mind the ideal of Religious Education, and the sense of its need and value Although predominantly Protestant in its origin, there were Jewish members from the very first years. Several Catholics participated in the organization and became members by the 1930s. Since the Second Vatican Council, however, Catholic membership has increased significantly. The association is an umbrella for specialized groups such as the Association of Professors and Researchers in Religious Education and the Association of Directors of Graduate Religious Education Programs. The association sponsors international and regional workshops in specialized topics. Individual membership: $35.00 per year, including $25.00 for the journal, Religious Education.
