The Return of the Prodigal Son
A Homecoming

Henri J.M. Nouwen

This is a powerful and engaging spiritual rendering of the gospel story and Rembrandt's magnificent painting. It invites the reader to see him/herself as the father, son, prodigal son and always as a child of God. I believe it is Henri's best book.

Just Revenge

Alan M. Dershowitz
336 pages
Warner Books, 2000
Retail Price: $9.99

This is one of the few books I could not put down until I had finished it - and stayed up all night to read it. A holocaust survivor, now a professor of Bible at Harvard finds the Lithuanian military officer who murdered his parents and siblings. He plots to take "revenge." The reader must decide is it a "just" revenge, or just "revenge."

God was in This Place, and I, I Did Not Know
Finding Self, Spirituality and Ultimate Meaning

Rabbi Lawrence Kushner
192 pages
Jewish Lights, 1993
Retail Price: $16.95

Kushner examines the biblical Jacob's experience of wrestling with the messenger (angel) and the multiple interpretations of the story; concentrating on the double usage of the pronoun "I" and helping us to understand that it is difficult to experience God when we are so full of ourselves.
